Who can be appointed as a guardian for an adult?

To be a guardian an adult must be aged 18 year and older and be either:

  • the Public Guardian
  • the Public Trustee (only for financial matters)
  • an adult who is eligible for the role in accordance with the Guardianship of Adults Act 2016

The Tribunal may appoint one or more of the above to be a guardian.
